Covid 19 Alert Level 3 – Today’s Update – 23rd March 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We have just heard that the Prime Minister has lifted our National Covid-19 Alert Level to Level 3.

I have not yet received the School information, but it stated on the Live Broadcast that unless you are in Essential Services – everyone should stay at home and Self Isolate.

Schools will be closed tomorrow for all students unless their parents are deemed to be in the essential service industries.

In 48 hours we will be at Level 4 and schools will be closed completely from Wednesday afternoon. We are expected to be closed for at least a month. I am sure we will learn further details as the Ministries develop further procedures.

Firstly, thank you all for all your positive support and proactive response to the Covid-19 outbreak, which we really appreciate. Every family has its own challenges to go through and we wish you all well. We live in an amazing community within a fantastic country, and together (but separately) we will get through this and life will become normal again.

Aroha nui /  Kia kaha. Take care out there.

  • Home Learning:- Please click here for each Syndicates summary details. The hard copy booklets that have been developed will be sent home with children today. The remaining copies will be left in class or Syndicate boxes outside the school under the covered walkway for those of you who are away already. We only have one copy per student, so please make sure you have your child’s copy. At present Maungatautari work is all online, so booklets are only for  Taupiri and Pirongia Students.
  • Learning Conferences:-
At the moment information has been adapted to come home in paper form. These will be shared with you on Seesaw in due course. This may happen next week. Follow up phone calls may also occur.
  • Library Books:- We have tried to let our Year 3 – 6 students take home a number of extra chapter books today. Unfortunately due to the speed of the announcement today, not all students were able to access the library.

Messages from the PM:-

  • All New Zealanders outside of essential services are to stay at home.  If you go outside it is to be solitary – keep your distance from others.
  • By midnight Wednesday, all schools will be closed.

Aroha nui ,  Kia kaha. Take care out there.

From Waveney and the whole team. We will be thinking of you and staying in touch through our online platforms.
