Absences

Absences

The government has set a target of 80% or more of students attending school regularly by 2030. (To be attending regularly, students miss fewer than 5 days across a term.)

Please see the Attendance Management Plan (AMP).

Reporting Absences

All absences from school should be notified to our school office before 8.30 am, by any of the following methods:

1. Use the school’s online absentee form

2. Leave a message on the school answerphone: 07 856 9238 (dial ext 1).

3. Send a text message to 022 140 3689, stating the student’s name, room number and reason for absence.

4. Send an email to reception@tamahere.school.nz

5. Send advice by written note to the school office.

Planned Absences

We understand that families may sometimes choose to take holidays during the school term. Under the Ministry of Education’s criteria, holidays taken during term time are classified as unjustified absences, except in special or exceptional circumstances.

If you are planning to go away on holiday during the school term, please complete the form below.

Leaving During The School Day

Parents/caregivers who wish to collect their child for appointments or for personal reasons must first report to the school office. Before removing any child from the school, all children must be signed out at the school office.

Lateness

All children who arrive after 8.30 am must check in to the school office as soon as they arrive at school and before they go to class.
