Welcome to the Maungatautari Syndicate

Maungatautari is the heart of the senior school experience. We are a dynamic team of dedicated teachers and enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 learners who embrace challenges and opportunities together. Our goal is to prepare students not just academically, but as confident, responsible citizens ready for the next step in their education.

A Stimulating and Collaborative Learning Environment

In Maungatautari, we foster a supportive and stimulating environment through:

  • Integrated Learning: Our days include structured Mathematics and Literacy teaching, with other curriculum areas explored through engaging, integrated approaches.
  • Team Teaching: Teachers work collaboratively, ensuring students benefit from a variety of teaching styles and perspectives. Students frequently work across class groups, fostering a larger, connected community of learners.
  • Real-World Experiences: We provide diverse opportunities both inside and outside the classroom to enrich learning.

Developing Leadership & Responsibility

Leadership is a key focus for our senior students. Our Year 6 learners are strongly encouraged to take on roles that build confidence and a sense of community service.

  • Year 6 Leadership Roles include: Librarian, Road Patrol Monitor, Kaiawhina, Whaanau Leader, and many more.

Highlights and Extra-Curricular Opportunities

We believe in holistic development and offer a range of sporting, cultural, and outdoor activities throughout the year:

  • Term 1: Swimming sports and school camp
  • Term 2: Jump Jam, Winter sports tournament
  • Term 3: Cross Country, Ag Day, Year 6 Bake Sale, speech competition
  • Term 4: T-ball tournament, Big Day Out

Technology in the Senior Syndicate (BYOD)

We are a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school. In the senior syndicate, we strongly encourage students to have a Chromebook, as this is the most effective way to access our essential online learning programmes and resources. Class devices are available for students who are unable to bring their own.
