Tamahere Model Country School enhances learning by providing students with opportunities to use ICT and communication technologies effectively across all areas of the curriculum. The school’s computer network, Internet access facilities, computers and other school ICT equipment/devices bring great benefits to the teaching and learning programmes at Tamahere Model Country School and to the effective operation of the school.

As digital learners and global citizens, students will confidently use ICT to access and provide information and to communicate with others.

Tamahere Model Country School is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment where students can use technology effectively and responsibly.

Our school has rigorous cybersafety practices in place, which include cybersafety use agreements for all school staff and students. The overall goal of the school is to create and maintain a cybersafety culture that is in keeping with the values of the school and legislative and professional obligations.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) has been an integral part of Tamahere Model Country School’s learning journey for many years. For Year 5 and 6 students, BYOD is recommended, and devices are used throughout the school day to support learning. Year 4 students in Pirongia also have the option to bring a device to school. This is entirely optional and is at parents’ discretion, based on whether their child is ready for the added responsibility. Please note that school-owned devices are still available for student use and are fully managed by the school. Our IT team secures, monitors, and maintains these devices. If your child cannot bring a personal device, the school’s shared devices will be available for classroom use when appropriate.

Tamahere Model Country School promotes a balance between the use of computers in the classroom for learning and unplugged, hands-on, pen-and-paper-based learning.
