Our classrooms are full of curious, dedicated learners who excitedly work and learn together in the Pirongia Syndicate.
Five dedicated teachers in our Pirongia Syndicate work closely together to create rich, engaging learning experiences for all aakonga. Through working together, collaborating and sharing of ideas, we aim to ensure consistency, support, and high-quality teaching across every classroom.
Our days consist of structured literacy, where students build strong reading, spelling, and writing skills through explicit teaching, word work, and opportunities to apply their learning in meaningful ways. Structured maths lessons which help students develop a deep understanding of number, problem-solving, and mathematical thinking through hands-on experiences and explicit teaching.
In Pirongia, we love learning together through hands-on inquiry, teachers work together to provide many learning experiences through Science, Social Science, the Arts and Health and P.E. The students also love visiting and reading the many books in our fabulous school library. We value teamwork, kindness, and giving new things a go — showing our school vision Pou; Kia Kotahi, Kia Maia and Kia Manaaki every day.
Whether we are sharing our writing, investigating the world around us, or celebrating our achievements, Pirongia students support one another and take pride in being part of our caring and connected kura.
Another exciting opportunity for our Pirongia students is the annual Year Four camp and Year Three EOTC day. You can read more about these opportunities here.
