There are many sporting opportunities available to our students that families can get involved with, out of school hours.
Our Health and Physical Education sporting activities provide a strong base from which students can springboard into a wide variety of sporting codes. We encourage and support active participation in team sports outside of school hours.
Our teachers coordinate many of the sporting opportunities, and we rely on an amazing team of parent coaches and managers to run the teams during the season. Fair play and using our Vision form the base of behaviour expectations.
Touch Rugby is played by children in Years 3-6. The games are played on a Friday night.
Splash Polo is a beginner’s version of water polo for young kids wanting to get in the pool and have some fun, learn new skills and make new friends. Splash Polo is for children in Years 3-6 and is played on a Sunday evening throughout Terms 1 and 4.
Lacrosse is a team sport where two teams use netted sticks, called crosses, to throw a ball into the opponent’s net and score goals. Lacrosse is for children in Years 5 and 6 and is played on Tuesdays in Terms 1 and 4.
This opportunity is available to students 10 years of age and older.
At Tamahere Model Country School, most of our cricket players play for Cambridge cricket. Please contact the Cambridge Cricket Association for more information.
Junior netball is for children in Years 0-2 and is played after school on a Friday. This is an opportunity for children to “have a go” and to learn basic throwing and catching skills. Our Year 3- 6 children play on a Saturday in a school competition.
School football allows children to play socially with their friends, an opportunity to develop skills and have fun in a more relaxed environment. If you wish your child to play for a club in a more competitive environment, here are a few options:
